Why membrane switch manufacturers upgrade to ColorGuard PET-9800 series ink.
Tactile Embossing Without Delamination
Standard solvent inks crack when tactile domes are punched or thermoformed. PET-9800 retains thermoplastic elasticity after heat curing, ensuring crisp tactile feedback and 0% edge cracking on PET flexible circuits.
Flawless 3M Tape & Spacer Adhesion
Poor ink-to-glue bonding causes overlay bubbling over time. PET-9800 provides a high surface energy cross-linked base that forms a permanent bond with 3M 467MP, 468MP, and acrylic spacer adhesives.
High Temperature & Moisture Resistance
With optional 2-component cross-linking, the ink film resists thermal cycling up to 90°C, solvent vapors, sweat, and household detergents without fading, bleeding, or pinholing.
Industrial Applications for PET & PC Overlays
Delivering high-opacity, crisp graphic printing for demanding industrial interfaces.
High-Adhesion PET Ink for Film Switches: CE & RoHS Certified Specifications
Extreme Stretch & Flexibility
Maintains elongation during deep-draw thermoforming and sharp dome embossing on flexible China PET overlays.
Permanent Substrate Anchor
Tested on treated PET and untreated PC films for maximum cross-hatch tape adhesion (ASTM D3359 5B grade).
Anti-Flotation Pigment System
Uniform particle dispersion prevents color separation in machine sumps, ensuring flawless batch repeatability.
Strict RoHS / REACH Certified
Completely free of PAHs, heavy metals, Phthalates, PBDEs, and toxic aromatic hydrocarbons for global compliance.

Mixing Formulation & Drying Schedule
Tailor between single-component efficiency and 2-component heavy-duty chemical bonding.
1-Component Setup (Standard PET / PC Overlays)
Fast turnaround for general membrane switches and treated films.
Drying & Curing
- Surface Touch Dry Air dry 10-20 min (or oven bake 70-90°C for 3-5 min).
- Full Adhesion Cure Air dry 24-48 hrs (or oven bake 70-90°C for 30 min).
2-Component Setup (Extreme Adhesion & Embossing)
Mandatory for difficult low-surface-tension PET, deep dome stamping, and strict auto/industrial specs.
⚠️ Pot Life Note:
Once B-11 hardener is introduced, polymer cross-linking begins immediately. At 25°C ambient temperature, use the mixed formulation within от 4 до 5 часов.
Frequently Asked Questions by Printing Engineers
Technical answers to frequent membrane electronics screen printing challenges.
Q1: How does PET-9800 solve peeling issues when printing on untreated vs treated PET?
Untreated PET films generally possess very low surface tension (<38 dynecm). we always recommend using corona- or chemical-treated pet. when printing on difficult batches, adding 5-10% B-11 Hardener significantly elevates chemical adhesion and ensures standard cross-cut tape test (ISO 2409 / ASTM D3359) compliance without peeling.
Q2: Can this ink withstand secondary processing like punching and thermoforming?
Yes. PET-9800 is specifically formulated with flexible acrylic-polyurethane hybrid resins. It provides superior elongation and will not crack, chip, or flake during die-cutting, cold punching, or tactile key dome thermoforming.
Q3: What mesh count and squeegee hardness do you recommend for graphic overlays?
For solid backgrounds and text printing, we recommend 250–350 mesh/inch (100–140T) polyester mesh paired with a 70–75 durometer polyurethane squeegee. For metallic silvers/golds, refer to our mesh table above to prevent screen blocking.
