KV - Advanced Pad Printing Ink

1. Overview & Applications

The KV Series is a premium industrial pad printing ink engineered with exceptional rheological properties to ensure complete ink transfer/release from silicone pads. It is highly valued for its anti-stringing performance, superb opacity, and robust chemical resistance.

Applicable Substrates: ABS, PVC, PS, Polycarbonate (PC), Acrylic (PMMA), Acrylic-painted surfaces, and treated PP/PE materials.

Primary Applications: Electronic enclosures, home appliance casings, digital product components, office stationery, automotive/industrial parts, powder-coated products, membrane switches, and labels.

Note: While optimized for pad printing, the KV Series can also be utilized for screen printing processes where exceptionally high color opacity is required.

2. Physical & Chemical Performance

Gloss Finish High Gloss
Adhesion (Cross-Hatch) 3M Tape Peel Test: 100% Retention
Pencil Hardness 45° angle, 200g load: 1H
Abrasion Resistance EF74 Eraser, 100g load, 100 rubs: No substrate exposure
Alcohol Resistance Cotton swab with alcohol, 500g load, 100 rubs: No substrate exposure
Acid Resistance Soaked in 5% H₂SO₄ (room temp) for 8 hours: No abnormalities
Water Resistance Submersed in tap water for 6 days: No abnormalities
Grease / Oil Resistance Soaked in salad oil for 8 hours (room temp): No abnormalities
Environmental Compliance Fully complies with EU RoHS heavy metal directives.

3. Color Series

The KV series includes 65 standard colors, all rigorously tested for heavy metal compliance. Pantone matching formulas are available upon request.

  • Standard Base Colors: 101 Tinting White, 102 Extra White, Yellows, Reds, Blues, Greens, 702 Extra Black, and 901 Clear Varnish.
  • High-Opacity Series (G): G2201 Lemon Yellow, G3301 Bright Red, G4401 Purple, G5501 Blue, etc. (Formulated for superior coverage without a white underbase).
  • CMYK Process Colors: 801 Red, 802 Yellow, 803 Blue, 804 Black.
  • Metallic Colors: A01 to A07 (Flash Silver, Bright Silver, Red Gold, Cyan Gold).
  • Pearl & Fluorescent Colors: B-Series (Pearl Silver, Chameleon Colors); D-Series (Fluorescent Yellow, Red, Blue).

4. Processing Guidelines & Additives

Mixing Formula & Viscosity

Thoroughly stir the ink before use. To achieve the correct pad printing transfer viscosity, add 20% - 30% KT-100 Thinner by weight.

Performance Upgrade (2-Component Process)

If the final product demands extreme abrasion resistance, superior alcohol tolerance, and maximum adhesion, the ink can be upgraded to a reactive 2-component system:

  • Add 5% - 10% B-5 Hardener to the ink mixture.
  • Pot Life: Once the hardener is added, the ink must be used within 8 hours. Do not use beyond this timeframe to avoid viscosity spikes and poor transfer.
  • Curing: After printing, allow the printed pieces to rest at room temperature. Maximum chemical and physical performance is achieved after 72 hours.

Storage & Precautions

  • Store in a cool, dry place tightly sealed. Keep away from heat and open flames.
  • Shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture.
  • Do not intermix KV Series inks with other brands or product lines to prevent adverse chemical reactions.
Important Disclaimer: The technical information, test results, and guidance provided herein are intended as a reference. Because substrate surface tensions, plastic formulations, and printing environments vary greatly, users MUST conduct comprehensive small-batch reliability testing to confirm ink compatibility before initiating mass production. We assume no liability for damages caused by untested applications.
