Metallic Series: Appliance Glass Printing Solution
This technical guide details the multi-pass screen printing workflows designed for Metallic Home Appliance Glass. It outlines two primary structural workflows (with and without a protective clear varnish layer) to achieve stunning brushed metal (hairline), halftone, and electroplated silver finishes with industrial-grade durability.
1. Standard Process (Without Protective Varnish Layer)
| Pass / Layer | Ink & Components | Mixing Formula & Properties | Baking |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st Pass: Mirror Silver | JM-500B (Standard) or JM-3000A (High Brightness) | Stir thoroughly before use. No additives or hardeners required. | 180°C for 8 mins |
| 2nd Pass: Halftone / Brushed Varnish | Option A: K-Series (K-888X, K-999, K-999ML). Can be intermixed. | 100 Ink + 3 MF Promoter + JD-100 Thinner. Viscosity: K-888X < K-999 < K-999ML Clarity: K-888X > K-999 > K-999ML |
180°C for 8 mins |
| Option B: TLS-Series Premium (TLS-A, TLS-GL, TLS-QT). Higher brightness & fullness. | 100 Ink + 13 D139 Hardener + 3 MF Promoter + JD-100 Thinner. Viscosity: TLS-A < TLS-QT < TLS-GL Clarity: TLS-QT > TLS-A > TLS-GL |
180°C for 8 mins | |
| Option C: UV-HB-20 (T-800C Clear Varnish) | 100 Ink + 3 T-15 Additive + 2 D-80 Promoter + UV-HB Thinner. | UV Cure, THEN 180°C for 6 mins | |
| 3rd Pass: Metallic Main Color | CF Electroplating Silver: 9100 (High Gloss) / 9200H (Mid Gloss) / 9300 (Low Gloss) + Silver Powder + CF Transparent Paste | 100 Ink + 3 TM Additive + 3 MF Promoter + MK-100 Standard Thinner. | 180°C for 8 mins |
| 4th Pass: Gray Backing (Cover) |
Glossy: TTG-B FD-Backing White(Gray) High-Abrasion: TTG-FR Dyne Backing Gray (PT-004) |
Glossy: 100 Ink + 15 TTG-15 Binder + Thinner. Dyne Gray: 100 Ink + 18 TTG-15 Binder + Thinner. *For enhanced MEK/chemical resistance, add 0.5% E221 Additive. |
180-190°C for 10-12 mins |
2. Premium Process (With Protective Varnish Layer)
This process inserts a clear protective varnish over the metallic main color to encapsulate the metallic pigments, offering vastly superior abrasion and environmental resistance.
| Pass / Layer | Ink & Components | Mixing Formula | Baking |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st Pass: Mirror Silver | JM-500B (Standard) or JM-3000A (High Brightness) | Stir thoroughly before use. No additives required. | 180°C for 8 mins |
| 2nd Pass: Halftone / Brushed Varnish | Select from K-Series, TLS-Series, or UV-HB-20 (See formulations in standard process above). | Refer to Option A, B, or C above. | 180°C for 8 mins |
| 3rd Pass: Metallic Main Color | CF Electroplating Silver (9100 / 9200H / 9300) + Silver Powder + CF Transparent Paste | 100 Ink + 3 TM Additive + 3 MF Promoter + MK-100 Standard Thinner. | 180°C for 8 mins |
| 4th Pass: Protective Clear Varnish | TTG-B Glass Ink: Thixotropic Clear Varnish | 100 Ink + 15 TTG-15 Binder + 3 MF Promoter + JD-100 Slow-Dry Thinner. | 180°C for 8 mins |
| 5th Pass: Gray Backing (Cover) |
Glossy: TTG-B FD-Backing White(Gray) High-Abrasion: TTG-FR Dyne Backing Gray (PT-004) |
Glossy: 100 Ink + 15 TTG-15 Binder + Thinner. Dyne Gray: 100 Ink + 18 TTG-15 Binder + Thinner. *For enhanced MEK/chemical resistance, add 0.5% E221 Additive. |
180-190°C for 10-12 mins |
Important Application Disclaimer: The visual appearance of brushed metal (hairline) and halftone effects is heavily dependent on mesh count, squeegee angle, and precise varnish selection (K-Series vs. TLS-Series). Substrate coatings and shop environments vary. Users must conduct small-batch testing to verify visual aesthetics, adhesion, and chemical resistance before beginning full-scale appliance glass production.
