PET-9800 Membrane Switch Screen Printing Ink

1. Overview & Applications

The PET-9800 is a premium solvent-based, 1-component screen printing ink. It can also function as a 2-component ink by adding the B-11 hardener to further enhance chemical resistance and adhesion. It is specifically formulated for the electronics and appliance industries.

  • Applicable Substrates: PC (Polycarbonate) films and print-treated PET films.
  • Primary Applications: Graphic overlays, membrane switches, and touch panels.
  • Performance Features: Offers exceptional adhesion, outstanding thermoforming/embossing capabilities, and excellent compatibility with double-sided mounting adhesives. It resists color floating (mottling) during custom color mixing, ensuring absolute batch-to-batch consistency.

2. Environmental Compliance

Formulated with strict adherence to global environmental standards:

  • Fully complies with EU RoHS directives.
  • 100% Free of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs), Heavy Metals, Diphenyl Ethers, PBDEs, and Phthalates.
  • Formulated without environmentally hazardous solvents such as benzene.

3. Product Models & Color Series

Solid & Transparent Colors

  • Standard Series (NH): "NH" denotes high lightfastness (fade-resistant). Includes Extra White, Insulating Black, Piano Black, Lemon Yellow, Red, Blue, Green, Clear Varnish, etc.
  • High-Opacity Series (NH-G): Excellent hiding power. Prevents color shift when printing over black backgrounds. High lightfastness.
  • Transparent Series (NH-T): Extremely clear tints (Red, Yellow, Blue, Green, Purple, Black). Highly recommended for tinting metallic powders to achieve brilliant, colorful metallic effects. Excellent outdoor durability.
  • Fluorescent Series (D): Includes Fluorescent Yellow, Red, Blue, Green, Orange, Purple. Note: Poor lightfastness; strictly recommended for indoor use only.

Metallic (Silver/Gold) Powders & Mesh Guidelines

To ensure maximum metallic brilliance, PET-9800 does not supply pre-mixed metallic inks. Users should mix the metallic powder with thinner and Clear Varnish directly before printing.

4. Mixing & Processing Instructions

  • Thinner Selection: 200-98 (Standard), 100-98 (Fast-Dry), 400-98 (Slow-Dry).
  • Hardener: B-11 Hardener.

Standard Mixing Ratio

Standard Printing (1-Component) 100 parts Ink + 10-20 parts Thinner. Mix thoroughly.
High Adhesion / Embossing (2-Component) 100 parts Ink + 5-10 parts B-11 Hardener + 10-20 parts Thinner.
Metallic Ink Preparation Blend powder and thinner (ratio 50:100 or 100:100) into a uniform paste. Add NH-901 Clear Varnish and stir thoroughly. Use NH-T Transparent colors if tinting is required.

Drying Conditions

  • Touch Dry: 10-20 minutes at room temperature, OR 3-5 minutes via 70°C-90°C forced baking.
  • Hard Dry (Full Cure): 24-48 hours at room temperature, OR 30 minutes via 70°C-90°C forced baking.
Important Processing Note: When printing on hard-to-adhere treated PET films or when deep thermoforming/embossing is required, adding 5-10% B-11 Hardener is highly recommended. Once the hardener is added, the ink will begin cross-linking. The workable pot life is approximately 4 to 5 hours at 25°C. Do not use the ink once this time has elapsed. Sealed ink (without hardener) has a shelf life of 24 months.
