SBK - 1-Component Glass & Metal Ink

1. Overview & Applications

The SBK Series is a premium, 1-component, low-temperature baking ink designed specifically for rigid and challenging substrates. It provides a highly tough, impact-resistant film that offers superb adhesion and vivid color rendition.

Applicable Substrates: Glass, Metals (Aluminum, Stainless Steel, etc.), Ceramics, Baked Enamel surfaces, and Thermosetting Resins.

Primary Applications: Home appliance glass panels, metal nameplates, ceramic products, and industrial signs.

Process Compatibility: Formulated for both screen printing and industrial spraying processes.

2. Physical & Chemical Performance

Testing Conditions: Printed on 2mm glass using 150-mesh screen (Color: 105B White). Baked at 165°C for 20 minutes, followed by a 48-hour rest at room temperature.

Gloss Finish High Gloss
Adhesion (Cross-Hatch) 3M Tape Peel Test: 100% Retention
Impact / Drawing Resistance When printed on aluminum plates: Withstands 0.5mm deep drawing without cracking or flaking.
Boiling Water Resistance Submersed in boiling water for 1 hour: No abnormalities
Cold Water Submersion Soaked for 24 hours: No abnormalities
Acid & Alkali Resistance Soaked in 5% H₂SO₄ and 5% NaOH respectively for 24 hours: No abnormalities
MEK (Solvent) Resistance Cotton swab with MEK, 500g load, 10 rubs: No abnormalities.
*Note: After 100 rubs, the ink film temporarily softens but fully recovers its original hardness after a 1-hour rest.
Alcohol & Grease Resistance Alcohol and Salad Oil respectively, 500g load, 100 rubs: No abnormalities
Environmental Compliance Fully complies with EU RoHS heavy metal directives.

3. Color Series

The SBK series offers a comprehensive palette, including high-opacity variants and specialized effects.

  • Standard Whites: 102E Extra White, 102A Extra White, 105B Extra White.
  • Standard Solid Colors: Yellows, Reds, Blues, Greens, 703 Extra Black, and 901 Varnish Base.
  • Specialty Varnish: 9002 Thixotropic Varnish (Engineered to prevent ink dripping or running).
  • High-Opacity Series (G): G2201 Yellow, G3301 Red, etc. (Formulated for dark backgrounds).
  • Transparent Tints: T-011 to T-017 (Transparent Red, Yellow, Blue, Green, Purple).
  • Metallic & Pearl Colors: A01 to A07 (Flash Silvers, Golds); B10 to B27 (Pearl Silvers, Chameleon Colors, Bronze).

4. Processing Guidelines & Formulations

Surface Preparation (Critical)

Before screen printing or spraying, all glass, metal, and ceramic substrates must be thoroughly degreased and dusted. Contaminants will severely compromise adhesion and surface leveling.

Application Methods & Mixing Ratios

Application Method Formulation & Thinner Selection
Screen Printing Process Thinner Selection: SBK Dedicated Thinner.
Mixing Ratio: 100 parts Ink + 20 to 25 parts Thinner.
Stir thoroughly until a uniform printing viscosity is reached.
Spraying Process Thinner Selection: SBK Spraying Thinner.
Mixing Ratio: 100 parts Ink + 50 to 100 parts Spraying Thinner.
Stir thoroughly to achieve the correct atomization viscosity.

Mandatory Baking Parameters

  • Baking Condition: The printed or sprayed parts must be forced-baked at 160°C - 180°C for 10 to 20 minutes.
  • Storage & Shelf Life: Store in a cool, dry place away from heat and open flames. Shelf life is 1 year at room temperature.
Important Disclaimer: The technical data and application processes provided herein are based on controlled laboratory conditions. Due to the high variability of glass coatings, metal alloys, and processing environments, users MUST conduct comprehensive small-batch reliability testing before initiating mass production. Do not intermix SBK ink with other brands or ink series. We assume no liability for damages caused by untested applications.
