ColorGuard Technical Data Sheet (TDS)
UV-BK - Aluminum Plate Screen Printing Ink
1. Overview & Applications
The UV-BK Series is a premium UV-curable screen printing ink formulated explicitly for the architectural and building materials industry, particularly for Integrated Ceiling Panels. It offers exceptional printability, preventing screen clogging during long production runs, and cures instantly under UV light to deliver outstanding adhesion. This rapid processing saves energy, improves efficiency, and significantly lowers production costs.
Applicable Substrates:
- Roller-coated aluminum plates for integrated ceilings.
- Mirror plates.
- Aluminum plates pre-coated with PET primer inks.
2. Color Series
The series features highly opaque standard colors and process colors suitable for high-speed printing operations.
- Standard Solid Colors: 103 High-Density White, 702 Extra Black, 901 Clear Varnish Base.
- Warm Tones: 201 Lemon Yellow, 202 Original Yellow, 203 Deep Yellow, 204 Orange, 301 Bright Red, 302 Deep Red, 303 Rose Red, 304 Peach, 307 Bright Peach.
- Cool Tones: 401 Purple, 501 Sky Blue, 502 Heliogen Blue, 504 Ultramarine Blue, 602 Extra Green.
- CMYK Process Colors: 801 Process Red, 802 Process Yellow, 803 Process Blue, 804 Process Black.
3. Processing & Curing Guidelines
| Thinner / Reducer | UV-SR Thinner. Maximum addition: 10% by ink weight. Stir thoroughly before printing. |
|---|---|
| Screen Mesh Count | ≥ 350 mesh/inch. Crucial: A lower mesh will lay down too much ink, causing incomplete UV curing and severe loss of adhesion. |
| Squeegee Hardness | ≥ 75 Shore A (Sharp edge recommended). |
| UV Curing Requirements | High-pressure mercury UV lamp: ≥ 5 kW power rating. Curing time: 1 to 3 seconds. |
| Surface Preparation | Aluminum substrates must be thoroughly degreased and dusted prior to printing. |
4. Precautions & Safety Warnings
- Lighting Sensitivities: The printing environment must avoid direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure to standard fluorescent or energy-saving bulbs can also trigger premature ink curing on the screen. Yellow lighting is strictly required as a safe light.
- Curing Failures: Ensure the UV lamp maintains its ≥ 5 kW output. Aging or underpowered lamps will result in poor curing, leading to weak adhesion and failed bending tests.
- Pre-Production Testing: Because aluminum coatings vary greatly, users MUST conduct small-batch testing. Verify Adhesion and Bending Resistance before initiating mass production.
- Health & Safety: UV-BK ink can be a skin irritant, especially during summer months. Operators must wear proper protective equipment (gloves, goggles). If the ink contacts the skin or eyes, flush immediately with copious amounts of water and seek medical attention if severe.
- Storage & Shelf Life: Store in a cool, dry place tightly sealed. Keep away from heat, open flames, and direct UV/sunlight. Shelf life is 6 months when stored below 25°C.
Important Disclaimer: The technical information, test results, and guidance provided herein are intended as a reference. Because metallic coatings and processing environments vary, users must independently test the formulation to ensure it meets their specific quality and mechanical requirements (e.g., stamping/bending) before mass production. We assume no liability for damages caused by untested applications or improper usage. Do not intermix UV-BK with other ink series.
